Beer Festival
The George Beer Festival returns!
Join us over Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th August for one of our favourite weekends of the year.
Across two days, we’ll have an incredible line-up of live music from some of the area’s best local artists, creating the perfect soundtrack to a summer weekend in the pub garden.
At the heart of the festival is our beer tent, pouring 12 carefully selected real ales from local breweries and further afield, alongside five delicious ciders to explore. Whether you’re a seasoned ale drinker or just looking to discover something new, there’ll be plenty to enjoy.
Feeling hungry? We’ll be serving BBQ favourites from the kitchen throughout the weekend, while our popular wood-fired pizza van will also be firing on all cylinders.
We’re also delighted to welcome back Kicking Goat Cider, who’ll once again be bringing their iconic Land Rover bar to The George, serving their fantastic range of craft ciders.
With great food, exceptional beer, live music and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend with family and friends.

Outdoor Cinema Night
New British Rural presents: Derek vs Derek
Join us at The George Inn for a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Derek vs Derek, as part of the New British Rural film series.
Set in the Devon countryside, the film follows two neighbouring farmers who happen to share the same first name—but little else. Derek Banbury has spent decades building a successful dairy herd, while Derek Gow has become one of Britain’s best-known rewilders, transforming farmland into thriving habitat for wildlife.
Warm, funny and thought-provoking, Derek vs Derek explores two very different visions for the British countryside and asks what the future of farming might look like. Whether you’re passionate about food, farming, conservation or simply enjoy a great documentary, it’s a fascinating watch.
The evening
6:00pm – Doors open & supper served
7:30pm – Film screening (60 minutes)
8:30pm – Stay for a drink and continue the conversation at the bar
11:00pm – Pub closes
Tickets are £10 per person, with all profits shared between the Test Valley Arts Foundation and the Farming Community Network, the film’s nominated charity.
If you’d like to eat before the screening, please pre-order your supper when booking so our kitchen can have everything ready before the film begins.

A Very Serious Wine Tasting
A night of extremely serious wine appreciation at The George. Plenty of bottles to taste, canapés throughout the evening, and the friendly guidance of Southern Wines. Friday 18th April at 7pm.
Knights of the Sloe Table
Homemade sloe gin at the ready. Bring 250ml of your finest batch to The George by 20th March and join us on 28th March as our judging panel crowns the winner.
The George Pub Quiz
The George Pub Quiz returns after a sell-out night that filled every table in under two weeks.
Expect good-natured rivalry, questionable confidence, and a room full of people suddenly convinced they remember every capital city and chart hit from 1998.
Tables are limited and booking is required.
Chicken or vegetarian curry is available by pre-order only — please select your choice when reserving.
Gather your team, choose a strong name, and prepare to defend your honour.
Folk Club
Our Folk Club nights are about good music, warm rooms and shared moments. Expect acoustic sets, traditional and contemporary folk, and a relaxed atmosphere where the fire’s lit and the bar’s full.
Whether you come to listen quietly or join in, these evenings are about community — familiar faces, new ones, and music that feels at home in a pub like ours.

Valentines Day at The George
Join us for a beautifully candlelit Valentine’s evening at The George. We’ll be serving a special set menu designed for sharing good food, good wine and unhurried time together, all in the glow of firelight.
Whether you’re celebrating with a partner or a friend, expect a relaxed, intimate atmosphere, thoughtful dishes and the kind of evening that feels quietly special rather than overdone.

Farmers Market
Join us in the yard for a relaxed monthly farmers’ market celebrating the best of our local growers, makers and producers. Expect seasonal produce, fresh bread, sweet treats, preserves, flowers and small-batch goods — all sourced close to home.
The bar and kitchen will be open throughout, with coffee, brunch plates and pub classics to enjoy alongside a wander round the stalls. Come for a browse, stay for a pint, and make a morning of it.
