Outdoor Cinema Night

New British Rural presents: Derek vs Derek

Join us at The George Inn for a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Derek vs Derek, as part of the New British Rural film series.

Set in the Devon countryside, the film follows two neighbouring farmers who happen to share the same first name—but little else. Derek Banbury has spent decades building a successful dairy herd, while Derek Gow has become one of Britain’s best-known rewilders, transforming farmland into thriving habitat for wildlife.

Warm, funny and thought-provoking, Derek vs Derek explores two very different visions for the British countryside and asks what the future of farming might look like. Whether you’re passionate about food, farming, conservation or simply enjoy a great documentary, it’s a fascinating watch.

The evening

  • 6:00pm – Doors open & supper served

  • 7:30pm – Film screening (60 minutes)

  • 8:30pm – Stay for a drink and continue the conversation at the bar

  • 11:00pm – Pub closes

Tickets are £10 per person, with all profits shared between the Test Valley Arts Foundation and the Farming Community Network, the film’s nominated charity.

If you’d like to eat before the screening, please pre-order your supper when booking so our kitchen can have everything ready before the film begins.

We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of film, food and conversation in the heart of the Hampshire countryside.
